Ear and eye protection where you practice. It is smaller than the day, and that is the point. Look at eyes and ears at the range first.

Then put them on before the first shot of practice. Mark the turn-around time before you mark anything else.
The slip
Watch for a few shots without them because the range is quiet. If it is already true in the parking area, it will be worse a mile in.
The check is protection is on before the gun is up. Fail it and you are done for the morning. That is a successful use of the note.
Keep gear that gets used boring. Boring means you came home with the same people you left with.
