A case that closes
A case that closes. It belongs in the morning routine, next to the case you drive with. Decide it before you leave the truck.
At the truck
The order is plain. Close it on an unloaded gun and check the latches. Do not invent a second plan after you have walked in.
The slip
The usual slip is a case used as a loose sleeve. That is a reason to pause, not a story to finish later.
The day is ready when the latches are closed and the chamber was checked. If permission, season, or safety is unclear, the walk does not start.
